Mucormycosis has now been announced as a pestilence in a few Indian states and one Union territory. On Thursday, the public authority had requested that all states announce "black fungus" or "mucormycosis " a plague. A letter from the Health Ministry has requested that states list the uncommon and possibly deadly illness under the Epidemic Diseases Act

What causes black fungus?
