India Records 58k+ New Covid-19 Patients, 657 Deaths In Last 24 Hours
According to figures released by the Ministry of Health on Friday (February 11, 2022), India recorded 58,077 new Covid-19 cases, 657 deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 5,07,177. There are 6,97,802 active cases.
There has been a decrease of 92,987 cases of active covid-19 cases in a period of 24 hours. There were 1,50,407 recoveries in the country today and the total number of recoveries was 4,13,31,158. Out of the total infections, 1.64 per cent are active cases, while the National Covid-19 cure rate is 97.17 per cent.
According to the ministry, the daily positivity rate was 3.89 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate was 5.76 per cent. In addition, the combined doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination campaign have exceeded 171.79 crores. A staggering 14,91,678 tests were performed in the last 24 hours to detect the presence of the virus.
Meanwhile, according to Johns Hopkins University, global coronavirus caseloads have reached 405.6 million, with deaths reaching 5.78 million and vaccinations exceeding 10.14 billion. According to the CSSE, the US is the most affected country in the world with 77,437,114 and 915,349 cases and deaths. India is the second most affected country in terms of cases (42,478,060 infections and 506,520 deaths), followed by Brazil (27,135,550 infections and 636,338 deaths).
Covid 3rd Dose: Government says decision to vaccinate all adults will be based on scientific needs
The third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine for all adults will be decided according to scientific need, the government said on Thursday, adding that emerging knowledge on the subject is under active consideration.
"Scientific need is the first part that drives it, then other thoughts - programmatic and epidemiological. Just because someone else is doing it, they have their own context, their own context and it's all under constant scientific scrutiny and judgment." He said. The official said there is an additional need for vaccination and the inclusion of the population for vaccination is under constant scrutiny. "In October last year, an average of 77.55 lakh doses were given daily. About 59.32 lakh doses were given in November. The number was 61.91 lakh in December and 69.49 lakh in January and an average of 51 lakh doses were given in the last nine days.
